All Heart Rate Monitors Created Equal?

Just curious if they will all do their job of monitor heart rate? Or are the cheaper ones "less accurate"?

Thanks :)

They should all be equally accurate but there are features that make some betters than others. First, some are coded so that they don't pick up crosstalk from others. Some are more easily pick up interference from power lines, etc. Some have features like laps, zones, time in zones, are downloadable to computers, can integrate with cycling and/or running sensors, have altimeters, etc.

Go to Polar's website and do a model comparison

Will do, was looking at the Polar, carries a strong rep

speaking of the polar line: I first purchased one of the lower end models that beeep when your out of your heart rate zone and loved it. Then ended up getting a midpriced one and it sucked since day one, even after repairing it for the cheap buttons. haven't dropped big money on the top of the line yet. prob stick with the cheapo.

More money usually buys you more number crunching, all the way up to the cross-training triathlon-ready S725X or the RS800G3. At then end of the day, though, they all do a good job of measuring your HR. Just need to decide which other features you like and want to pay for.

User defined targe zones, time and percentage in each zone, batteries you can change yourself (transmiter and monitor), a few rides saved in memory rather than wiping out each pst memory every time you ride, and most important....buttons that are logical and easy to use when setting and clearing.

A few things I didn't know to look for the first time around......but rely on daily.
