Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2009 FACE OFF: Cervelo S2 vs. Felt F3

~approximately similar price range:

SRAM RED vs. Ultegra (I'm keeping the S2 Dura-ace out of it because then the price range won't be similar)

Overall which has more SWAG APPEAL!?

Just going to chime in on how curious it is that Felt is now high zoot. For years, they were an underdog, acquired taste brand on this forum. Just known for being decent frames being sold with nice components for the money. They were, and still are, I believe, sold in Performance Bike outlets. What a difference one year on the ProTour circuit makes. Being put head to head with a Cervelo frame in 2006, before Felt's name recognition rise and during the peak of Cervelo's flavor-of-the-month popularity, would have had people scratching their heads.

At least I didn't shill Specialized in this thread... to each his own. I believe Cervelo has more swag appeal as it's got a more popular name than Felt.

And don't try to discredit someone based on their brand preference... it only makes you look like a shill for your own brand.

I'm a big fan of felt, in 06 I was able to get my f80 with 105 for the same price all(big name) other brands were selling bikes with tiagra or lower.

right now I want a bike with sram, but I would be tempted to get the s2 and swap the ultegra for rival. but I could also swap the red for rival on the felt and put the money toward a really nice wheel set.

for what I would buy I would lean toward felt, but cervelo had more bling.... which would make me more of a poseur

The answer is neither has swag factor.

I see Freds on Cervelos all the time and Felts, while being great bikes, are just not "swaggy"

Stop deciding on your next bike by what other people will think of it/you.

I ride a Felt, btw.

I don't own a Felt, or a Cervelo. Go ride your bike.

The Cervelo is definitely more bling. If the Felt has better components (are wheels not a consideration here? Most don't like the Cervelo stock wheels), it's probably a better deal.

Were? Maybe. Are? I've never seen them in Performance Bike stores in the 4 times I've been in such a store in the last 2 years.

I own a Felt and a Cervelo..... go with the F3/Red combo unless you go with the S2 with Red.

Why not take a look at the Felt AR line? It seems like that is a more similar frame to the S series Cervelos.

I own a Felt F3, and I love it. That said, my next bike will likely be a Cervelo.

I like the felt more but I ride an F2 so I'm biased. Someone said "felt is the new cervelo" and I think with Garmin-Chipotle sponsorship locked in until 2011 they're right.
