Will Lance Armstrong Win the 2009 Tour de France?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It will be interesting to see how the European betting books put the odds as next July draws closer. If he's in the field.

Who's arguing? Thanks for the warning, though.

This will be the sign that they're going to let him race, it will be the flattest, most TT-free Tour ever.

Cavendish will lead right up until the moment McEwen head butts him.

Just a reminder to those who noticed that Prudhomme said Lance can ride if he's eligible AND on a team THEY decide to let in to the race: Rock Racing was rejected for a race earlier this year, Ball sued and they got in. Lance has a boat load of money and truckload of lawyers and isn't afraid to use either. My bet is he's riding the TDF.

Also don't underestimate the weight savings of only having one nut.

He's going to have a fight just to be the top-ranked GC contender on his own team if he races with Astana. Regardless of who he races for, he's not going to have the entire team built around him in the way some of the USPS/Discovery squads were, and that's going to make the enterprise considerably more difficult. I think he'll do well if he places top-5 in the GC.

I'm surprised he'd get back into the game at this point, when anything less than a GC win is going to be characterized as a failure in most of the major media.
