3 broken ribs

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

hit by a car this morning... Right hook. They are going to print out the x-ray for me. I guess it was just 2 ribs. The doc had said 2 or 3 so I went for the more dramatic

Ouch, I went down last year doing around 25 mph and I cracked 3 ribs. It took about 3 months before they felt good again. Hopefully it doesn't take you that long. I was 67 years old when it happened to me and it takes a little longer to heal, at my age. Anyway good luck and get well soon.

HTFU! Ok, someone had to say it.

Now that it's said. Sorry, man. You are one of the toughest distance riders on here. I know you've been training hard. I broke a rib snowboarding once and remember how painful it was. I don't envy you.

Wow, that's terrible. If you were hit by a car, you may be lucky that you only have broken ribs.

I broke three ribs a year ago while participating in another sport. Took a while to get over the pain and it only hurt when I breathed.

Hope you heal quickly. Your bike can be easily replaced.

So I take it you'll tone it down to about 500 miles a week for a few weeks, just to let it recover

Damn. That's terrible.

If it makes you feel better, I rode by an all-white bike on the side of the road with a sign that said "a cyclist was killed here".

It could be worse.

somehow I get the feeling umd isn't the type to sit around and passively heal ;-)

umd: I bet you've gotten back on the bike at least one time since the ribs were broken just to see how it felt. am I right?

"umd has crashed out of the Tour with suspected broken ribs!"

hope you heal fast. I've done the ribs and collarbone, the ribs were definitely more painful.
