Carbon/Ti Combo
I see that some of the custom shops build a lugged Ti bike with Carbon tubes. I think they look pretty cool but I wonder if there is real functionality to this or just bling. Anyone have one of these bikes that can comment on the ride?

Titus did this for a while with its ExoGrid system, basically titanium tubing with carbon in the holes. Looked really neat too.

Don't know. Go to the Titus bikes web site and read what they have to say about this technology.

Pesonal opinion: there are advantages to CF bikes; there are advantages to Ti bikes; there is little advantage, and signifcant downside to Ti/Cf blends.
IMHO, incorperating CF into Ti was a desperate reaction by Ti builders to stay relevant when the market was going to CF.

I was really disappointed when I test ride two CF/Ti combo's - Seven and Serotta. They both showed the downside of each material without the benefits of either.
