Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2009 allez

Any thoughts on the new allez? It's looking pretty nice to me.

I wanted to say the new changes were trite and superficial because the shaped tubing just seemed so gimmicky. But my first impression was that it had a nicer ride than the old Allez.

My '09 Allez survived an encounter with a minivan. What else can I say about it?

Actually, the brake pads are crap, but that's forgivable.

Elite vs Sport

Is there really much of a difference between the 09 Allez Elite (https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkM...9Allez&eid=115)
and the 09 Allez Sport
(https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkM...=39253&eid=115)

Is the Specialized E5 aluminum frame on the elite much different from the Specialized A1 Premium Aluminum frame on the sport?

If you had to choose one for racing, what would it be?

I just picked up the allez sport last week.... awesome bike!

I think the only differences are the frame and fork... haven't tried out the elite so I can't comment.

Specialized website says the forks on the elite and the sport are the same (Specialized FACT carbon, carbon fiber legs, aluminum crown and steerer)

so, what makes the elite's E5 frame different and, I'm assuming, better than the sport's A1 frame?
Is one better for racing?
