Can you mate Campy ergo levers with shimano?

Is it possible? I like the feel of the ergo levers but I don't want to have to replace the entrie drive train.

Ergo 8-speed levers have been known to shift a 7-speed Shimano. Beyond that I don't have a clue.

nope. ergo stuff has been designed specifically to shift with campy - i believe there are different tensions.

not to show undue self-interest, but what level campy are you looking for? what price range? i have a small bike company - and i could definitely beat the prices i've seen out there (just bought a record group for myself). there is the trust thing to worry about, of course, since you don't know me from adam ...

I was looking at the record ergo levers. What are your prices? Do you have a web store front?

keithnordstrom 03-02-04 03:27 PM

i don't, hence the trust issue.

we started as a small repair company here in boulder after a friend and i worked for performance as wrenches for 5 years or so. we have begun web pages, but both of us have other jobs and never got around to doing the footwork to put them together, especially when it became clear that we really couldn't compete with the big pages on most items. we even considered ebay, but found it was hard to consistently make money there as well (from the few sales we made there, my ebay username is gothebook).

as for prices, we have nothing cooked up. it just occurred to me that for the campy components i recently bought, most of the mail order places i checked were asking around $750-$900. and i could have made a profit for slightly under $700.

there's an import issue right now. the government's policy on the weak dollar has made imported things significantly more expensive. and prices from the wholesaler change on a weekly basis. so, on the off chance you are interested, pm me a list of components and i'll quote you a price. i will of course take no offense if you aren't; i don't typically trust random people who appear on my threads offering to sell me stuff either lol.

You can work ergo10 levers with Shimano 9 derailleurs and brakes (just not the other way around).
It takes a minor cable adjustment and the feel isn't as solid as Campy nor as seamless as Shimano.
