Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am looking for one, preferably on the light side, for the rainy season. Can't seem to find it. I don't want a touring bike or c-cross bike.

either get something old, SKS race blades, or MEC clip on fenders

Just want a beater for the rain, or a nice bike that will accept fenders? I think there are clip on fenders that will work on any bike. I have a Gunnar sport that has eyelets. It's a relaxed geometry road bike, about 4 pounds for the frame.

Note that some seatstay bridges don't fit fenders very well. You may need to get creative (like cut the fender into two pieces) if there is insufficient space.

I'd prefer a nice, medium range bike that accepts fenders. I struggled with clip-ons last year and found out that they don't really work. I want my wheels to be fully covered this time.

My Torelli has eyelets for fenders front & rear, not much clearance at the fork crown, but I was able to fit a Zefal 35mm fender. Don

That's a great looking commuter/rain bike. I haven't seen a Torelli dressed like that.

Fenders are pretty common in the great NW, the generator lightset isn't. Beats putting the bike up for the Winter. I have a few other bikes outfitted with stainless or aluminum fenders. They are much more durable. Since I took that picture, I replaced the Torelli front fender when the lower part shattered on a sub freezing day. Don
