Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I ride mine too...., but I take an hour or two every few months and give it some TLC.

I also spend all winter working on rigs (mine and others) so that I don't have to spend all my time freezing my ass on the road and staring at pcad threads.

PCAD is right, they all break. If they didn't , we would all be buying bikes online, no need for a LBS. I can agree been riding since I was a kid in the 60's, and broke frames on bikes. The only bike I never broke was a Schwinn Varsity the damn thing was a tank! Yeah, it was like 40 LBS, but back then, you did everything on it, paper routes, jumping off curbs(bent a few steel rims). I think today its all about the looks, or saving a few grams of weight. Funny thing, was riding down to Seal Beach the other day, and seen these kids all kitted out on fancy Look bikes with Zipp wheels, and watched them get dropped by a group of older guys like me riding some old Schwinns, it was hilarious! The kids remarked "damn, those old (delete) guys must have had lil gas motors attached to their bikes" The moral of the story? There is no substitute for cubic inches, and torque!

10,300 km (6,406 mi) so far this year, and nothing broken but some tubes.

maybe if i left the mountain passes and came over to 'mt doom', would my bike break then? besides, you just broke a few cranks, BFD.

htfu and just buy a few bikes at a time! or move away from truvativ finally.

The only time I broke a bike was during the 2007 Tour of Missouri when the FAA granted me special approval and my bike and I caught fire due to aerodynamic heating.

Once I recover from the burns, I'll keep to the speed of sound from now on. Fortunately, I've learned how to pedal with the power of my mind.

I think when I snapped the rear derailleur hanger a few weeks ago I bent the rear triangle. I'm confident it can be straightened by my LBS.

I'm with PCaddy on this one. Stuff breaks - all of it. (And yes, BT, that includes Campagnolo. If that didn't break I wouldn't have a job).

In 25+ years or racing (not counting crashes) I have broken:

Saddles, seatposts, bars, stems, frames, rims, spokes, chains, shifters, front and rear der, crankarms, waterbottle cages, computers...have I left anything out?

Most of this stuff was high-end race gear. I either broke it or worn it out. I have seen other riders do the same.

I don't understand this thread.

Move along. There's nothing to see here.

Nothing 2x4, a some string and a big guy wearing work boots can't fix.

Hangers are designed to break long before the frame suffers any damage. Also, it is ti, non? I seriously doubt it is bent. If it is there is no way in heck that a shop will be able to bend it back with any accuracy, if at all. That's a frame builder's job.

the real question is how often the OP breaks his internetz, his keyboard, and his "click here to start a new thread" button.

Cause he sure does ride those a lot, too.

My LBS has bent numerous Ti frames back into alignment over the years.

Why else would the bike be leaning when it's on the fork blades? Shouldn't the bike be vertical??

Welcome to the club. Note that we don't need anything as subtle as a star next to our username to figure us out.
Just sayin'. I've broken them all this year except the Cannondale. Two broken cranks, one bent frame.

That is because, unlike half the geniuses here, I RIDE the bikes. Often.

Pcad Says: if your gear is undamaged, you are not riding enough. So don't even think about posting a response until you go out and ride 50+ miles you friggin wussyass Fred losers. And it will be much more convincing if you have broken something before you post here today.
I take exception to this. I'm a friggin wussyass girlyman Fred loser.

Just sayin'.
