Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You don't vote for Grand Vizier, you just declare you are it. Much like one just declares they are qualified to be VP.

ARTHUR: You don't vote for kings.

WOMAN: Well, how did you become King, then?

ARTHUR: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water signifying by Divine Providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king!

DENNIS: Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

ARTHUR: Be quiet!

DENNIS: Well, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

ARTHUR: Shut up!

DENNIS: I mean, if I went 'round saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

ARTHUR: Shut up, will you? Shut up!

Can't wait for the SNL spoof of that debate.

If Palin becomes your vice-president you might as well stick a fork in the U.S., because it'll be done. What's scary about your benighted country is that that well-worn Mencken quote, which applied to eight years of Bush, doesn't even begin to capture the utterly moronic lunacy currently at work.

And what greatly angers me and millions upon millions of others is that the mess won't be contained within your borders, but will have a worldwide impact.

Oh, right, off-topic and irrelevant. I like bikes. Bikes are good. More people will be riding them soon, whether they want to or not.

If you really think Palin is on the same level as Biden, I will appoint you head of the BF Dept of Freds when I ascend to the Grand Vizier post in January.

The scary part about the SNL 'spoofs' of Palin so far is that they're really not too far off the real woman.

Actually... we'd be more than willing to trade Quebec for Oregon and Washington.

The scary thing about the SNL spoofs on Palin is that Tina Fey could pretty much quote Palin word for word...and apparently did.

We'll trade Florida and Wisconsin for Quebec. I've wanted to be Canadian ever since I saw Kids in the Hall. Besides... Wisconsin is a lot like Oregon. Hard to tell the two apart, really.

I just took a dump, and to keep it Road Cycling related, I read Road Bike Action magazine in the bathroom. I considered posting a thread about that, but thought better of it. Never let it be said that Pcad doesn't add valuable Road Cycling Information to this Forum.
