Edge 305 speed sensor

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Edge 305 speed sensor

Is there such a beast as a Garmin Edge 305 speed sensor that doesn't record cadence information? A man selling his Edge 305 told me that he had the speed sensor, but not the cadence. I thought they were both in one unit.

Maybe he is saying he doesn't have the cadence sensor and just uses the GPS speed thing

That's kinda what I thought at first as well, but he specified that he had the speed unit and the spoke magnet. Perhaps he doesn't know they are both one unit?

Not possible to have only the cadence unit. The entire unit measures speed and cadence. However, I could see someone breaking the little arm that measures speed.

Maybe the guy just lost the crankarm magnet. Ask him for a photograph...
