The Polar Opposite of HTFU

WTFO

Wussy the F Out.

That's what I did on Sunday in the race when I essentially said to myself 'F this soggy action' and didn't jam to close the gap in the Prospect Park Vets race. I was actually happy to get shelled.

So it goes.

Actually, sometimes WTFO is the far better path to follow.

Well, you are old. I mean I'm old, but nothing like you. It was bound to happen.

Anti404 10-08-08 07:29 PM

Yesterday I was out for a fifty or so mile ride through some of the mildly hilly parts of Bloomington and that went pretty well, but seemed to tire out my quadriceps. Today I was going out for a recovery ride and was climbing something I've named the Trail of Terror when I notice a female cyclist coming up - we "race" for a bit, but I just wuss out and turn and roll down the hill. She had already begun to drop me, but blah.

And HTFU.

Chucklehead 10-08-08 07:41 PM

Same thing happened to me today, except it was completely sunny and dry out. I found myself near the back and working harder than I'm accustomed to on a particular section, when suddenly I just decided "fk this. I'm not doing it today."
Of course, the entire time I watched the group ride into the distance, I'm thinking "You moron. Now you have to ride alone."

And I'm not even old =(

I got dropped on the bike path by an old guy on what appeared to be a touring bike with clip-on aerobars and a rear rack. WTFO, indeed, I did.

garysol1 10-08-08 07:50 PM

Sometimes I go out with full intentions of really HTFU and doing some intense intervals but I end up
STFU (Softening The F up) and just spin instead.....:(

redirekib 10-08-08 07:50 PM

This is the third or fourth thread that you've brought up the 'shelling'. You should seek profesional help. If you don't you may never get over it.

RoadToNowhere 10-08-08 07:52 PM

Are you still fussing over that?

Must be a slow week.

I hope not. Shellification is the Mother of Self Loathing.

I don't mind riding alone.

Neurodoc 10-08-08 10:55 PM

I didn't ride to work this morning because it was dark and cold. WTFU indeed.

On Another Forum, someone called that getting "chicked". I'd never heard the term before, but I thought it was pretty funny.

Kambei 10-08-08 11:03 PM

So when you get dropped by an old guy, is that "geezed?"

Hey, you should buy a new bike. Blame it on the bike. Those guys all have newer, faster bikes.

BTW...you will love this...customer comes in the other day with his wife looking at bikes. I pick them up in road bikes, not where they should have been, and the guy says to me, "Anybody that spends this much for a bike is an idiot."

I love it when a sales interaction starts like that.

Anybody want to take bets on how many threads pcad will start talking about his rainy ride last weekend?? I think we're at 3 now.

when you wake up at 3AM, to drive and hour and a half, to race in the rain, you can start your own.

How do you drop yourself?

Go easy on me, two of those threads were because I forgot I had started the first. My memory isn't what it used to be.

Then he asks, "You know anything about these, or do you just sell them?"

I just started laughing. I could not help it. Then I asked, "You want my resume? Or is there something with which I can help?"

It was pretty funny.

considering the quality of the staff at most LBS's, it's a legitimate question. ;)

You get what you pay for...:thumb: :twitchy:

For me, it's getting paid for the hobby. And free stuff.

I just found his lack of diplomacy really funny.
