Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Traveling with Rollers?

I have a friend who is willing to sell his rollers to me at a 'friendly' discount. Here's the dilemma: He and I live in different states, and I would need to transport said rollers (Kreitler Challenger 4.5 rollers with Killer Headwind Unit) back to my home in my checked luggage. It seems that they could be disassembled in such a way that they would fit into a standard suitcase. He thinks that the rollers would easily fit into a suitcase, but that the fan unit might pose a problem.

Is this possible? Is this folly?

The rollers would easily fit into an empty suitcase; not alongside your clothes. As for the fan unit, think large bowling ball. I would UPS them to yourself frankly.

I agree with Dubbayoo. I think you're going to find more hassles dealing with airport security and explaining to them what rollers are.

+2 on the UPS thing. Take them to the a UPS Store and box them up and ship them to yourself. They'll get to you quicker than lost luggage.

You cant be in that much of a hurry to ride rollers can you?

I'v done the suitcase deal. Worked fine and no security questions, but that was before the airlines started charging you for every bag you check. Probably cheaper to UPS or FED EX.
