Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ok deal on 2008 Roubaix?

The owner of my LBS agreed to sell me a brand new 08 Roubaix Elite Triple for $1900 or $1200 for just the frame + fork + seatpost.

Is it a decent deal, and how much can I expect to talk him down (if any)?

I think the carbon frame on the roubaix looks soo nice, and it will also be easier on my back due to the upright position.

I was thinking of taking the owner up on the latter option (frame, fork, and seatpost) and ordering a dura ace group from CCC or PBK to build my own bike. Is this the way you guys would go?

I'd appreciate comments and suggestions.

Thanks!

Define "better".

Also which frames do you recommend?
