Sometimes I have a hard time aligning my wheels perfectly while the bike is up on the work stand. The wheel keeps trying to drop down before I can secure it in the perfect position. Try flipping the bike upsidedown where gravity is your friend.

no. put in wheels with the bike in a position like you ride it. use weight of the frame to seat the wheels in proper alignment. it works better you dont scuff your brake hoods, handlebar tape, saddle, or computer on the ground.
for the rear wheel, ALWAYS remove with chain positioned on the smallest cog, that way when you put it back in, you can easily have things aligned.
