Saris (Powertap) is taking orders for ANT

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

ANT updater, that is. $99, one time use. Don't know if this means you can still use your old 2.4 computer or not.

I believe it means you can use your old computer and/or a Garmin. I just need to decide which wheel I want to build a PowerTap around.

From a post I made in 2 different threads a few days ago:

Just an update for those waiting for this stuff. I spoke with Saris today. In their website, they show that they have an adaptor available to update the internal software of the hub to an ANT+ signal. They are $99 and are shipping at the end of the month. It is a one time use type of USB adaptor basically. At least that is what they told me, but I am sure before long someone will figure out a way of making it work several times. They are shipping at the end of the month (October '08) for those interested. They say it actually adds the ANT+ signal to the hub, so you can still use your yellow PT computer to record by placing it in your pocket and the Garmin 705 will also pick up the power, cadence, HR, etc from the hub. They say the advantage of this is that one can still use their PowerAgent software to record the data as it is supposed to be superior to the others out for data review. Not my opinion, just telling you theirs. Also, their software in supported by Mac, while most of the others out that are compatible with the Garmin are not. Again, not something I know from a personal experience.

Edit: also, in an effort to be more "green and waste conscious", they will send you a "special" Saris T-**** free if you send back the updater for them to re-use (recycle)

The website also shows the ANT+ hubs at $100 more than the non-ANT+ hubs - same delta as the updater.

That's just rude.

VERY rude!

I'm thinking about sending my non-2.4 hub in for the 2.4/ANT update.

How much is the 2.4 update? I don't see it mentioned on their website.
