Felt F85

Just bought a leftover 2007 Felt F-85 from a lbs for $1049. I looked all over to try toget a full 105 grouping for $1000. This had ultegra on the rear and 105 up front. Anyone know the pros and cons of this bike? It seems to be good for the price range and components

what cons? :)

I don't know what, if any, differences there are in the model years, but I love my '08 F85.

The wheels more than likely suck, and the brakes are probably off brand. Really the wheels are your main concern, but at that price you will get crap wheels from any production bike.

For the price the F85 is a pretty solid entry bike. Furiousferret is dead on about the wheel and brakes though

Is that the one with an Alex Wheelset and Tektro brakes? If so, those are probably the only true "negatives".

You're asking after you bought the bike?

Happens a lot around this place, get used to it.

To the OP, it's a solid bike with likely the same cons as most other bikes in the range, depending on your weight.

If you don't weigh a lot, you'll likely be fine with the wheels till you decide to upgrade, and your brakes will be fine once you get better pads.

Old shimano 105/ultegra brakes aren't all that expensive, and good durable wheels can be had for about 200 bucks. So either way, the cons aren't bad as others have said.

You bought a solid bike which will not hold you back if you decide to race.

Guys, don't give him buyer's remorse. Great bike to ride!

I could buy a 6k full carbon, sub 15 lb bike with top components and the best wheels and people here will still give me buyers remorse

You did great!
Now go out there and ride the bike instead of thinking about it!!

I have the same bike (i.e. the red 07 F85) and love it. The criteria for narrowing down to it was similar to yours in terms of price range and 105 components. And though the wheels may not be the best, there will always be a chance down the road to upgrade it. Being my first road bike, I am willing to accommodate some shortcomings!

I had an Alex wheelset and sucked is an understatement.
