New Groupset prices
I'm looking to build up my Roubaix and wanted to see if anybody knew if the new 2009 Campy Record or Shimano Dura Ace 7900 groupsets are available yet at realistic prices. Prices for both seem to be 1/3 too high where I have looked online. I have not considered Sram Red that much due to maintenance issues that I have read about. Not sure if there is a update planned for Red in the works or not. Thanks for the help.

I heard that Super Record was going to be a little over $2K and that Dura Ace 7900 was going to be several hundred below that. I would consider that to be reasonable.
In regard to Sram Red "maintenance" I've read that it is difficult to keep the rear derailleur tuned up over time/miles. I would consider Red as it has a great range for the gear set (11/28) just don't want to be adjusting all the time. I have had Record and Ultegra and they went months between tune-ups.
I've seen good prices for Record at bellatisport.com but do not know about the shipping "duties" and how much they would add to the purchase.

There are no import duties on cycling drivetrain items. Wheels can get charged though.

briscoelab, thanks for the info. Went to Total Cycling but was not able to find any 2009 Record Groupsets. Did I miss something?

I don't see it in the groupset sectin either (only 10 speed 2008) but if you search for super record, you'll see them listed individually. My guess, they don't have the whole set in stock...

Yea, i don't think they have complete groups. But, you can go to their individual parts sections and find the most of the new Campy parts. They have really good prices for the shifters, cassettes, etc. Chorus 11 speed is actually not too bad price wise compared to the 10 speed stuff.

Hmm. I haven't heard about these issues, but I've had mine since about a month after it became available (shifters and cassette only, the rest is Force, which I've had since it became available) and I haven't had any maintenance issues at all. What have you read?

I heard that with a complete Red groupset there was issues with getting a tune-up to stay for longer than a few hundred miles. Also that is was a loud groupset.

Unique Vintage Steel
Saw a SRAM Red rear derailleur with a broken inner jockey arm last week. Group was less than 2 months old if I remember right, and there was no impact of any sort to weaken the part before it broke.
Super Record for $2500ish is probably as low as you'll find for a while. My local LBS had a box of it with a price just north of $3500 slapped on it and that price probably won't come down any time soon for them. I put 09 Centaur shifters on my Fuji last week. So far been pleased with the new hood design, but I'm not going to run out and buy two more sets of shifters to replace my other two sets right now.

This recently happened to my riding buddy. SRAM exchanged it right away and wanted the old one for inspection. I'm going to guess that they are seeing a few of these come back for this reason.
