Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Buying New Road Bike

I have owned a Klien Attitude Comp Mountain bike for the past three years and am getting ready to buy a road bike. I am trying to decide between the Cannondale R800 or the Trek 2100. Does anyone have anty advice?

The Cannondale and the Trek would both be great bikes.

As 55/Rad says, fit is paramount. Any decent LBS will be happy for you to take the bikes for a test ride, and at that price point should also offer a free fitting service (usually on a trainer, where they'll change out the stem and make adjustments to make sure you're comfortable on the frame).

Softride

Test ride a Softride. It's the most comfortable bike around. Read their literature it's very impressive. My new Softride Rocket is arriving any day now.

I just took delivery of a custom Seven Ti, and it is pure heaven. I adore this bike. I had a custom Serotta CSI, and never really liked the way that it fit, but the guys at seven made this bike fit like a glove right out of the box. The only setting I changed was the tilt of the handle bars, and the length of the petals.

Sounds like a great bike - how do you change the length of the pedals? Do you mean the crank?
