Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

OOOOOoooo hot stuff! Another Moots gal!! Erik, will you please show me a side view of her bike? I'd like to see what the tires look from that angle.

I bought my cannondale because it was black black and black.
I got bored with that after about 2 days of buying it. Here in Japan we can get away with a clown bike so I went for polka dots, red water bottle cage, and red spacer under the stem. Hey, at least no one else in their right mind will copy me.

... or will they!?

I'm jealous of your wife's Moots. Hers looks really really nice.....and NOT boring. But what is that blue on the top tube?

I love that C'dale, Skebbe. I still miss my other bike -

The saddle that I have on the bike is a Brooks Imperial. Only comes in black so far...I think the red tires like Erik's might be cool, huh?

What year is your Moots? I just noticed the decal on the seat tube is placed differently. Or does year matter?

My friend has reddish saddles similar to the brooks. I will try to find the brand (Selle something) They look like they have warts all over them. I've been told they are ultra expensive but are water proof.

I think Machak is beautiful, so I haven't done anything to him, but I have decorated my handlebar bag with pins (mainly from places I've been), the red ribbon from my first 24-hour TT, and with Little Machak, my black cat (on the right side of the photo).

Thank you Skebbe. Someone had told me about those during my testing of the Imperial.

Sui you need some of those red tires and lose the dorky seat and you'll be set.

wonder if they make a red chain?

Machka, I just bought a handlebar bag for "Angelily" but I have not installed it yet. Maybe if I girly up the bag that might help do the trick. Where did you get the pink bike on it? Will you please post a pic of Machak?

I know that I'm going to get red tires the next time around. I think the red needs balance. Or maybe just change the red to black. But then it doesn't "pop" with black. Oh man, I dunno.

*sigh*

Here's the bag I got.

NOT mine.
The wifes is 02'ish I think. The blue is part of the original stickerset. We aren't sure if we should cover it over with red or just remove it so we've done nothing so far.

I would not recomend those Schwalbe Stelvios, we've had issue with flats with both hers and mine. I picked some Hutchison Equinoxes cheap with the same color, we'll see how those last and how robust their flat protection is.

I'd also best not let her see the red cages or they'd be on the shopping list forthright.

Maybe I could put in on my Kona Dawg Deluxe.

Red chain would be cool. Like a fixie.

well, if it's grey and black... add yellow stripes and a white skull

you'll end up with jolly rogers paint scheme.

Rowan gave me the pink bicycle ... he picked it up somewhere in Australia. You'll notice a heavy Australian influence in the rest of the pins too ... even the "Cycle Instead" pin came from Australia, via Rowan.

Here's Machak ... attending our wedding ...

And chatting to the Maruishi ...

And posing with me in front of the Weeping Wall on the Icefield Parkway ...

Here ... almost every set in my Flickr collection contains at least one shot of Machak.

Oh okay. Mine is five years difference from your wife's, I bet it's just the decal set and placement and how they want them on there.

Thanks for the tip on the Schwalbe...

Machka, your bike is indeed beautiful on it's own...

Oh gawd. My bike looks like the ugly duckling.

Can I piggyback on this thread? I don't like the way my bare ti bike looks either.

I am in the market for new bars (I hate the ergo bend, ouch) and a new stem (fugly!). And the saddle is worn out visually, but not functionally. And I guess after 5 years I could cut the steerer.... as soon as I get that new stem, of course. What else??
