Pictures of what you have done to jazz up your plain looking bike.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is a great subject. I have seen a few bikes in the commuter forum where they used colored cables doohickeys, colored brakes, and all sorts of other things to customize their ride. Let's face it, most production bikes are not very inspiring to look at, least not in my opinion. I think most manufacturers try to appeal to everyone and as a result they appeal to no one, at least from an aesthetic perspective. Boring colors, boring style, etc. Most all make the same basic boring diamond frame too.

I need some ideas myself.

Go WHITE Siu, white bar tape and white saddle. Maybe even white bottle holders.

Or go BLUE, blue bar tape and tire stripes . . . . besides, it'll coordinate with your name, the ultimate in OCP.

Or go YELLOW like this gorgeous bike here:

Really? That bike looks beautiful as is.

I'm kind of a purist though.

I added a piece of small red string wrapped around my seatpost. It has private sentimental value.

Otherwise...flip it?

White cable housing, tape and saddle will make the logo pop much more.

For the record, your logo should generally determine housing and bar tape color, preferably saddle as well.

Can't flip it. I have a bad back and the bike is to specs by the fitter and my doctor.

I was initially going to do blue but couldn't decide between blue, red or purple. So I told the builder to pick the color. I have red nipples on the wheels...

That's pretty much awesome. Is it secret irony because you're more of a hare than a tortoise?

I've thought of adding a good luck chinese fish under my saddle too, but then it leans on tarcky.

OH man. Didn't think of that. As a matter of fact, I was stuck on whether or not to have the factory put on the logo. By the time I decided not to, they had already put it on and I didn't want to be "one of those" customers.

I think the bike would look great if you just swapped out all the red for black.

I hear you on the back issue. My lady can't ride drops because of TMJ. She was so close to getting a road bike too! =(

anyway...maybe...
or bar end plug with red in it?

maybe alternating red/white bartape?

No one notices spoke nipples anyway.
