I haven't had a flat since I can't remember when.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I haven't had a flat since I can't remember when.

I haven't had a flat since I can't remember when.

Road, mountain, cross. All rocking months old tubes, my wife's bike too. Also my tires have well over 1k miles on them.

On a ride today there were 3 flats, none of them me. Ha. I'm invincible.

You're obviously doing something wrong. Try going above 15 mph.

Enjoy tempting fate, do you? First flat I got on my Fuji happened when I rode on the wrong side of the street for a block - serious instant karma.

Well, that and crappy tires. I had 3 flats in about a month on my horrid Conti Ultra Sports, replaced 'em yesterday evening with GP 4000s and went for a ride today right past the place where I got a flat yesterday on the old tires (yes, tempting fate...) The GP 4000s are a huge improvement over the Ultra Sports. Notably smoother ride, and they do feel faster. Absolutely worth the $$$.

the science of jinx's

If my calculations are correct
you've actually jinx'd yourself so hard that
you've come all the way back around and unjinx'd yourself.

congratulations.

I remember riding with a friend making fun of him for falling a lot with clipless pedals. I said, "I've never fallen on my bike." Not more than 30 seconds later at the next light i lose my balance reaching for a bottle. nothing hurt but my pride. he laughed his *** off. I don't play with karma anymore.

good luck, bro.

I have few problems with flats, but it's 'cause I don't race so I use Specialized Nimbus armadillo tires. They're practically bomb proof, but they are pretty heavy. If I was racing I'd go for something better but these work great and are worth their weight in gold as far as I'm concerned. I had a pair on my old mountain bike (road slicks 'cause I eventually found I ain't cut out for mountain biking) and was able to put about 6000 miles on those tires before I replaced them. Road bike tires (as opposed to road slicks for mountain bikes) won't last as long, but I still get my money's worth.

Good luck. I hadn't busted a tube in a long while. 5 tubes in 2 and half weeks. 2 threaded valves broken while removing pump. Pump replaced. Two smooth valves pulled away from tube, just one puncture. The puncture came 2 minutes into the ride.
You are doomed.

Speaking of which, how is South Hadley? My wife went to MHC and hasn't been back in a couple of years. We may be heading to DC/Boston to visit a friend sometime soon, but from what I remember it should be pretty there now.

It's ok, been here two months or so now. Leaves just started dropping this week. I did the Great River Century the other weekend and they were perfect, but hard to notice on 20% grades. Sadly I have yet to pick up any MHC girls, but I'm trying...

You can't remember how long it took you to ride 1,000 miles. You don't ride much.

I just replaced a P3R on the rear of my bike with 2,400 miles on it. It had a cut on the side wall and I decided it wasn't worth booting. I hadn't flatted on that tire, and I felt accomplished. 1,000 miles without a flat is nothing.

I put about 1200 miles on my bikes in the last month. I think I had one flat.

I don't care. When the tires go flat I put new tubes in them and keep riding.
