Going to be rocking aluminum

I love my Tarmac and I have been a Specialized fan for many years. I have always lusted over the Specialized S-Works ES frameset and today I pulled the trigger on one. I paid a bit more than it is worth but it is the right size, color and appears to be like new. Geometry is identical to the Tarmac so I know the fit will be fine. Can't wait to rock the E5

Fat tubed aluminum rigs make for some spectacularly awesome crit racing.

Hate to be rude, but, how much?

Maybe too much, but it's red. Head set, fork, and post make it a push. And, it's red. Nice score.

And it matches it's big brother. Now I need a Roubaix to complete the family :)

I don't really like specialized bikes, save for some of the really old steel ones I've seen. But that frame is incredible. That's one of my favorite looking frames.

I do love my CAAD9 though and I'm glad to be rocking the Aluminium as well!

Well today the box finally showed up and it appears the gorillas at USPS did there job......

That sucks. Are those frames still available? Tell us it's insured.

txvintage 11-03-08 08:14 PM

That bites.

I have an aluminum frame off getting painted. It made it to the painter undamaged, but eventually has to make it's way back.

I fear the results, even though it will be professionally packed for the return trip.........

Is it a dent, or just a paint scar? Hard to tell in the pic.

There is team frame like your's available locally. You got a good deal compared to what he is asking, BTW.

Big dent and no fault of the seller. He did a great job in packing. Bubble wrapped then had square card board tubes around the frame tubes. Yes, he did insure the package but now I have to deal the repacking and waiting for my refund not to mention finding another frame.....Oh well :( Chit happens....

Best we let Gary chill a few hours before we ask what happened.:(

ridethecliche 11-03-08 08:29 PM

NOOOOOO!!!

That is so incredibly sad!

Like I said, I'm not really a specialized fan, but I love everything about the look of that frame. I would have loved to build one up as a crit bike. I really wish that they still made them...

It's a badass looking frame. I'm so sad to see a frame die like this...

mrbubbles 11-03-08 08:30 PM

Ouch, I'm sure it's ridable, no? These frames are hard to come by.

veggiemafia 11-03-08 08:31 PM

Dude, that sucks so hard.

I'm vicariously bummed out for you.

It's not too late you own one, this seems like a good buy for a crit beater.

Sure it's rideable I guess......but not by me. I am just to anal with my bikes.
EDIT...Actually the seller and I are trying to come to a agreement. I may just keep and ride her as is...

I keep looking at that ugly duckling......I am in no real hurry. Think Ill wait for another 2005 just like the one I got. I love the simple graphics.

yogi13 11-03-08 11:13 PM

Too bad about the frame damage. I love my E5; it's a sweet ride.

Siu Blue Wind 11-03-08 11:18 PM

((hugs)) :(

schnabler1 11-03-08 11:24 PM

Ebay frames..... yuck. How do you know it's the shipper's fault?

umd 11-03-08 11:34 PM

Meh, I like the s-works you already have better...

garysol1 11-04-08 12:13 AM

Here is the outcome.....I kept the frame and it will be my winter/ crit bike. I have $200.00 into it. The seller gave me a refund on the difference.

txvintage 11-04-08 02:03 AM

Well, that could have ended worse.

After a bit, I doubt you will notice it all that much. For a while though, it will be the only thing you see:(

We should all be so lucky to have such a "beater".
