Vaporware in person
 

So we're rolling past Westwood cycle this morning with two team mates after the Tour de Fred (another 25 mph un-Fredlike hammerfest today), and I see a Prius with an $8K Cervelo on the roof, and I say to myself, hey, WTF, that's Dr. W's car! So I lock up the brakes, do a U-turn, and sure enough, it's Will O'Donnell in the flesh. He doesn't look so fast standing there in his nerdy sweat pants by the way.

Then Mark, the owner of Westwood brings out a newly assembled Felt CF bike with the new Dura Ace 7900. So I got to see it, touch it, lick it, caress it, and inspect it up close.

Nice scwhag.

But really, the best part was getting to see Dr. W. But that car of his is a friggin Fredwagon.

I missed the Vaporware part.

I also missed O'Donnell in the only TT I did in Floyd Bennett.

did you have a post-vaporware viewing cigarette?

As usual the anticipation of the vaporware is far more exciting than seeing it for the first time. Never fails.

But that new D.A. stuff really looks like it will work better. Particularly those brifters, I liked the ergonomics. Lighter and stiffer is good too.

Ah crap, who cares, we all know it's the friggin Schaaawaggg. Then Mark brings out a bike with brand new SRAM Red. It was like comparing a Corvette to a Porsche. The D.A. is really much nicer.

In my twisted, sorry, materialistic, capitalistic Pcad brain, everything material has a virtual price tag on it the instant I lay eyes on it. Please note that I did not affix a value to Dr. W's Prius, only his bicycle. Besides, I used to be in the car business, and assessing used car value is too complicated.

the cervelo S3 was put together at cadence today. a P4 was already on the floor. both prototypes though, but still nice to meet them in person. a S2 was sitting in a box (the real thing, not a prototype). cervelo will have a launch event at cadence tomorrow evening.

the S2 will be finally here. no more excuses PCAD. time to swipe the platinum card.

They're not idiots @ Visa dude. I'm sure they'll lower my credit limit before I can ever get this bike.
