Two-tone bar tape

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Two-tone bar tape

I want to do a black and white two tone tape wrapping. I looked quickly through google, but I don't think companies make two toned tapes (the colours switch half way, like Sanchez's bike on Olympics). ie

I do have black bar tapes and white bar tapes... Does anyone know if there is a technique to seamlessly combine the two to make a two-toned wrapping like in the pic above?

Thanks in advance!

PBK sells it, not too many color options though. Selev is the brand they have.

In fact, it's so god looking that they have it on sale for three and a half bucks!

Thanks for the links.

I'm not a big fan of buying things online, and I would prefer to combine two tapes together myself if it is even doable... Is it?

If not, I'll forget about it or suck it up and buy the thing online

It is doable. just wrap the first color up to the brifters and start the next at the same point. make sure it is tight and you won't even need tape in the middle.

im guessing you could stop the first color at the shifter, then the rest of bar in the other color. the shifter housing could hide the seam.

I just did it by changing the tapes at the brifters. It was surprising much easier than I expected. FLIT Christy, you were right, the shifter hoods pretty much covered the seams.

I will post pictures soon

This look was achieved by marrying 2 separate tapes under the hoods. Problem with doing it this way is the lines of separation aren't necessarily clean and at a good angle. So I sharpie'd the white above the hood to get the line I wanted.

55/Rad: Funny I have the same bar as you (FSA Wing Pro - White?) I decided to do the opposite colour to yours. I did not draw a line with sharpie, but I think it looks good from what I can tell.

Also, I noticed you have '08 Orca. Nice bike

Anyway,

Bringing this one back from the dead. I'm wondering if we have any newer examples. I'm interested in trying this look similar to this one but using my own choice of tapes and combining them somehow. This company actually sells the single roll that changes color, but I bet there is a way to pull it off with two strips joined together, but I really like the placement of the transition.
