20mph average century
I did it. I decided to ride from Tucson to Phoenix yesterday- 100 miles from the outskirts of each, and 145 miles door-to-door. The reason I was able to accomplish this is 1000 feet of elevation loss, as well as a good 15mph tailwind the ENTIRE way. There is nothing more fun that going that fast, for that long. At one point, I averaged 28mph for ten miles because the wind was blowing so hard. Once I got into Phoenix, however, my speed dropped because of traffic lights and I finished the 145 miles with an average of 18.6.
Now the bad news- I have to go back on Tuesday. I think I might set my personal record for fastest AND slowest century in the same week.

I recall you mentioning that you "just remembered" you had 130 mi to ride the night before. Sounds like it was fun.
