Wow.

I was looking at pics from the Tour de Gruene last week... and got curious about Lance's partner, John Korioth. I was reading a question/answer site about him, and thought this was worth a read.

VC What would be your dream cycling vacation?

JK If you're the jealous type, don't read any further. I guess you could say I have already had it. Lance took me to Europe to see some of the Spring Classics after the first Ride For The Roses as a bonus for putting on the event. What a friend. As soon as we arrived, we headed to Eddy Merckx's house for lunch. I was so jet lagged that I fell asleep at the table. I awoke to Eddy laughing in my face. The day before Tour of Flanders, I rode a great deal of the course with Lance and Jim Ochowicz. We rode the famous climbs (Kwaremont, Bosberg, etc.) with all the pavé. The memory of going up some of those climbs on Lance's wheel still sends chills up my spine. The next day, I watched the race live with Jim Ochowicz and Hennie Kuiper. We raced all over the course and caught all the action.

Yeah, College has been Lance's friend for a loooong time, and he's well connected. He's a potent wheel in the races around here, and I often mark him in the pack.

From what I saw on Discovery Channel you don't want to be in the bus though. College drives the team bus....poorly. :D

They were filming when he hit something (I forget what) and told a story or two of other accidents. LOL

Good read. I disagree with his thoughts about the future of US cycling though.

About Lance: "He could be the Mark McGwire who saves cycling." :innocent:

Must be an old interview.
