Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Decisions, Decisions

I am sitting here at 9:00am EST, alternately looking out the window at "scattered showers" and checking weather.com to see when they will let up. I can't decide to wait until the sun is supposed to come out and the temp rises to 70 or put on my rain gear and go now? Decisions, decisions.

If the rain will be gone and the roads will be dry early enough in the day I'd wait.
I don't like having to clean all the road grime off my bike after riding on wet streets.

But this morning I'm not worried about that.
It's sunny and the high is supposed to be 77F and 82 tomorrow.

Same here in Portland. After 3 days for heavy rain, it's supposed to clear and get warm. But it's windy too. Think I'll wait till the afternoon and hope for the best.

Sunday is supposed to be awesome.

The rain let up and I headed out about 1:00pm. Went on a 2.5 hour, 30 mile jaunt. Just getting my legs back in shape after laying off due to rotten weather. But it was fun, mostly.

Until the end, when some moron in a huge Ford decided to run a stop sign. I asked him politely, "What the Effing Sam Hill is your problem? Can't you read?" The moron did a U-turn, and came after me, rolling down the passenger window, and shouting across his wife or girl friend, "What did you say to me, ******?" I said, politely, "I asked if you'd like to see my badge, as***le!" He rolled up the window and sped away.

Blacksburg! What a great place, especially with Va Tech's recent success in football.

I have started riding back and forth to work and just wish it would warm up, even a little bit. Never fails either, no matter which way I'm going, the wind seems to change direction so that I'm pushing a damn headwind. I think its some one's way of saying, "Here's what you get for putting on twenty pounds this winter FATTY!!!"

What a bummer but hey at least you got out to ride. It did'nt rain here either and today is even nicer. Hmmm a badge I'll have to try that one some time...

I wasn't really lying about a badge. I have to wear one of the ID cards around my neck at work, and everyone calls it a "badge." Worked wonders!
