suss tyre?

Unfortunately I had my first flat tyre today in over 1400km after riding over a patch of glass that was once some Yobbo's beer bottle .So here's my Q. Do I need to repair the tyre in any way as it was only a tiny piece of glass that penetrated, or do I just let it be? The tyre has only been riden on for 400km and is in great condition.cheers paddo

Run your finger (very carefully so you don't cut it) along the inside of the tyre, over the WHOLE surface and make sure that there is no more sharp glass poking through, otherwise it will puncture the tube again as soon as you onflate it. Also, if it is a new bike, it might be a good opportunity to inspect/change the rim tape if its that crappy yellow plastic stuff that manufacturers insist on using, as it will disappear into the spoke wells and create 32 nice little bulges in your tube that will blow

Instead of risking cutting your finger a bit of cotton works well on inside of tires instead
of your finger. Where it snags is where you probably have bits of glass/wire etc. penetrating
tyre. If you removed all the glass, and its a small cut (not more than a few mm long)
the tire should be ok to ride. If its sliced, get a new tire. Some people use shoe goo
(used to repair running shoes) to fix cuts in tires.
