Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone have trouble getting it up in the morning?

HR, that is. I noticed that early in the morning, my HR is consistently lower on training rides than later. I can't seem to hold quite as high cadences either, so power output isn't what it is later in the day.

BTW, safety tip for you married guys -- If you're getting sent out of town on business and decide to do an interval set at 4am, don't run the volume for your workout DVD at the same level as usual even if you're in the garage. Sound carries more than you'd think.

When I finished my workout today, my wife informed me that listening to some guy was yell "Hammer! Hammer! Hammer!" or "Dig! Dig! Dig!" while music switches between fast and slow is not conducive for sleep or a happy woman...

If it stays up for more than 4 hours, see your doctor.

I knew this thread would degrade into a male genital discussion, but not this quick...

To the OP:

This is why you should ride your bike outdoors.

My wife would not have been as pleasant as your wife seems to have been.

Did I mention my mother-in-law, who lives with us, her bedroom is next door to the garage, this would not have been good, but it certainly helps keep it down!!!

Is it really considered degrading when the title of the post is purposely laden with innuendo? I'm not complaining...just sayin'. There's no goin' down when you're already starting at the bottom.

I think this thread just proved that you can go downhill even at the bottom.

FWIW, I commute to work in the morning at around 7 AM, and home around 5-6 PM. It is 9.56 miles. I just about always stronger in the morning than the afternoon.

HTFU. I do a 1 minute interval out of my driveway to start my commute at 6:30am.

...I'm realizing it's impossible to put anything in this thread without innuendo, so I'll take my best shot:
