Best replacement training rim for the $
I recently trashed the rear rim on my training bike hitting a rock. The hub is a 32h campy 8-speed, so I'll be building that up with a new rim. This bike doesn't get a ton of miles, so cost is the highest priority followed by durability. What does everyone recommend? How much should I expect to pay for the build?
Thanks.
Thanks.

even more bombproof than mavic open pro is mavic cxp33, take a look at those (my next pair of rims).
I believe it's around $30 for hands per wheel.

I keep forgetting, I am in Europe where Mavic is a lot cheaper...Open Pro goes as low as 30 EUR which is $38. CXP33 is (I think) only 5 EUR more.

Mavic Aksiums
Cheap, durable (what you seem to want), Cheap.
Expect to pay around the neighborhood of $150 for the SET. Can't beat that. Plus they are more aero than a lot of wheels that cost 3xs as much. I know this for a fact because I have these as my training wheels as well as some customs. Aksiums are actually more aero on flats.
or CXP33 if you keep your hub

How about the Mavic Open Sport? I know it's a boat anchor, but $30 brand new is great, and I imagine if Mavic made it at that weight, it must be pretty durable.

Velocity is the best value here, in my opinion. Aerohead, Aerohead OC, Fusion, Deep-V, in order of increasing durability. A 32h Deep-V is pretty much a tandem wheel. Velocity rims are usually around $45.
