A friend of a friend is selling that bike. I knew I'd seen the wheels before but couldn't name them. It was driving me crazy.
My undying respect and gratitude. [/man-crush]
Are they of questionable quality? Or just ugly?

Ugly for sure. Quality/customer service is a mixed bag.

I just talked to the previously mentioned friend and he said the funky looking giant spoke nipples are designed to be tightened/loosened by hand, so you can true the wheel without tools. Is this true? It sounds like less of a "feature" and more of a "way for someone who doesn't know what they're doing to screw up their wheel".
