Looking for an oversize alu handlebar
I am getting the Cannondale frame :)
So, one purchase creates the need for another, I need a stem (getting a ritchey adjustable one), and another, I also need an oversize handlebar... Saw one in Carbon by a Performance house brand (E3), looked good but @ $150, its too much. The salesperson told me I could get "much much" cheaper ones in Alu (fine by me) but couldn't tell me where and which brands.... Cheaper alu oversized alu handlebars...Is this true? |

Perhaps -- understatement of the day -- I wasn't clear. By "oversized" I mean to say that I would like the part of the handle bar you hold when you are going uphill to be oversized (don't know the term). The E3 has a very large "upper" bar -- you could almost put a cup of coffee on it ! -- which is what I am looking for in Alu at a cheaper price -- does it even exist?, I wonder. I didn't mean to talk abouth the overall size or width of the handlebar. :o Sorry for the confusion. |
Ritchey WCS Classic.
Not impressed by Deda. |

You're looking for an ergo bar.
Oversized when referring to bars is going to mean the clamp area. So, can anyone recommend good ergo bars that are selling cheap out there? |

Something like this?
http://images.competitivecyclist.com...08/200_i_1.jpg FSA Wing bar - there are plenty places to get them relatively cheaply. |
?Donde? A good store w/cheap prices you'd recommend?
|
I use these: http://www.profile-design.com/produc...-bars/lava-os/
They are not expensive but they are very stiff (VERY stiff) and are very comfy to use. One of the Spanish pro tour teams used them a few years ago so they are competitively light too. Worth consideration at least.:thumb: |

price: no idea. |
I have large hands and like the FSA Wing Pro...it's an alloy bar and has a nice, large and ergo area between the hoods.

After all the reviews I have digested, for me it has come down to two bars....3T Ergonova Pro or FSA Wing Compact which has a bit of a following on this board. I too have joined the frey and just ordered the FSA Wing Compact because I couldn't find the Ergonova Pro even in Europe. I don't like carbon bars...or should say they aren't worth it to me in spite of fractional weight savings and/or stiffnes...because of notch sensitivity or lack of fracture resistance in particular. I would ride one if somebody gave me a shape I liked. I am hugely particular about all aspects of bicycle design and the FSA Wing Compact makes sense to me on a number of levels. Andy of Competitive Cyclist has great reviews and he covers most aspects of what the designers had in mind with the Wing Compact shape, reach and sweeping semi-eliptical drop shape versus kinked anatomic bend are nice if you prefer a compact bar:
