Cracked carbon update

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cracked carbon update

Last spring I cratered my 404s during a road race. I put hairline cracks near the braking surface on both wheels. Well....actually one was a bit larger than hairline. I couldn't be without race wheels so the GL engineering brain trust decided epoxy was the way to go. 50 races later the wheels held up fine, and there's no sign of the crack spreading. So there's that.

In other news the curtain thread was closed so it seems my chances for finding interweb love by the light of BF is greatly diminished. Where ever are the single ladies looking for a riding partner and to work a feed zone? You must be out there....my heart flutters with anticipation Sensitive male, not afraid to wear pink, likes kids and dogs.

You give up so easily, young jedi. Is that your online dating profile?

Gary, how did you fix them with epoxy?

Can you describe the process and what you used?

Is that chick hitting on me?

The fix was pretty simple... some two part expoxy smeared in really meager amounts over the crack and worked in with a playing card. Not sure how big a crack it would handle, but it still appears stable.

Oh SNAP!

But I think if he has the words 404 on his dating profile, that in-itself should be enough mojo.

You just aren't looking in the right place. Try Central Park on a spring day. Keep the pace around 15 or so. Anything faster and you're mostly riding with the guys, or alone. Sometimes you'll find a serious female cyclist doing a good pace, but don't count on it.

Well, if I was interested in watching chick flicks, that might do it for me. However, I prefer less predictable story lines and more quality content than the average formulaic chick flick has to offer.

Fast enough to get where I want to go. I don't race. No need for a CF wheelset.

Well, I guess someplace south. Who the heck would want to ride in MI? There must be a ride partner locater on this board. I'd offer a tour of the northeast, but it's cold and I rarely leave my basement.

Passing me off to someone else, huh?

In that case, perhaps my online dating profile would be appropriate. Smart girl, <3's to ride, can be intense, not into chick flicks. Oh, and I don't have a CF wheelset, so in lieu of flowers...

I'm a reasonably fast cyclist, but not particularly astute at the ways of the interweb or online dating. Are you a PCad alias? I feel like I'm being played here. I don't even recall how this started....you can't possibly be a woman, and can't possibly be hitting on me. I call B.S.

Time to ride the rollers. Good luck with your search. I hope you find your Match.*

Dude, first you are suggesting we should pick out pillow shams, china and silver patterns and asking me to help you hang curtains. Now you are passing me off to some match website. The way you change your mind, I think maybe you must be a woman. Pics?
