Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2009 is just around the corner!

Just thought I would post this. Will give me a fair bit of motivation!

Ok so, about a two years ago I had broken my ankle, because of this I was knocked off the bike somewhat as I recovered. Then about 6 months later I was back on the bike. Of course I then had to go and sustain a knee injury that has left me off the bike completely as I deal with PT. So I have not been on my bike since about sometime early last year.

I started at my university in September with the hopes of getting into the ECCC but alas that never ended up happening. I had been the victim of yet ANOTHER ankle injury. So I have a bum ankle and a bum knee. Both on the same leg. The doctors told me I needed to get back out and exercise as I have gained a fair bit of weight.

So here we are, Early December, just about a month away from January. This is where it begins. I am moving from Southern NH to The Albany area of NY state. I have a loving girlfriend that is going to be working and is going to allow me the privilege to go out and ride to my hearts content.

The past few months I have ordered everything I need to build up a new bike. Including wheels and a powertap. So now I can finally get back onto the road and living what I believe will be the good life. Days full of cycling. Hills...most of all hills. Which for me I have never really had coming from Cape Cod.

Come this time in about 2 months I will finally be in indoor cycling mode ready to hit the tarmac come early spring. Well, as much as possible with the snow. Hopefully I will be in race worthy shape come summer time!

So, HOORRAAAAAAY.

Best of luck to you. Hope the knee and ankle hold out.
