Looking for a good entry level bike

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah, I have a lot of fun with it. The same caliber bike would have cost me $700-800 at the local bike shop.

Yes, they're measured differently.

The important measurement on a road bike is the top tube.

Alright! Thanks guys!

I went to my local Performance Bikes and picked up a Fuji Newest 1.0 for $738..., and I got 20% off that, which will be activated tomorrow.. So it's like $600! =)

It's been an awesome ride... 105 derailers, and tiagra shifters. Hope that's all good. We'll see =)

that's a great starter bike. there won't be much jump in performance until you plop down over a grand... and I know that's tough for a student. I had to sell a bike, buy a bike to small with components i need, sell that frame and currently in the process of ordering a frame that will fit me to put my parts on. total cost will be in the neighborhood of $700- and that is doing all the work myself, with a donor wheelset. components will be a full 105 group, that is used.

I bought a Motobecane Mirage off ebay (chicabike or someone related) for about $350 as my first road bike. All Sora components. The frame was too small (50cm and I'm 5'6") and I was getting into it, so I bought a new bike. I parted out the Mirage and sold it on ebay for about $250 after all was said and done. I was happy with it.

Probably would have upgraded the bike if the frame had fit better. For what it's worth anyway....
