Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Much anticipated photos of winter build

Behold! Ultimate bike porn. Please, no jealous replies.

Note the understated decals.

The Ross was given to me and the 500EX stuff and MA 40 wheels are off my 1990 Schwinn 594. The FD was a spare. Total invested - $45

Cinelli cork / 500EX levers

The highly coveted Bio-Pace chainrings/500EX crank and Ultegra 6500 FD

Salvaged Shimano RD

Shimano 500EX brake (unconventional mounting) don't ask!!

I had to combine parts from the original Dia-Compe calipers to get one usable one. The 500EX wouldn't work on the front and the hole in the rear mount was drilled at an angle so the pads wouldn't reach from the back side.

I was gunna guess that is was a practical reason, like by mounting it on that side you avoid snow buildup.

Nice, that stand must have taken quite some time to make.
Here are some more from the same manufacturer -

Here's one that holds several bikes -

Wow my winter build seems to be a bit thicker in the middle, I'd rather not take any pics....I'll be working on fixing that in Jan.
