Any strong/clyde riders ridden the Shimano D/A 7950 24mm wheelset?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Any strong/clyde riders ridden the Shimano D/A 7950 24mm wheelset?

Thinking of getting a set for myself. I am a perma-clyde. Despite losing alot of weight since riding, I will never be as small as some of you guys.

Heck, I use 2 sets of pedal spacers and 46cm handlebars. I am built like a linebacker, not Alberto Contador.

Nevertheless I am a powerful cyclist and am able to sprint well and am usually the guy you skinny people hide from the wind behind =D

So, Ive got a store credit I need to use. I was thinking either the Shimano Dura-Ace 7950 24mm Carbon Clincher (the ones with the aluminum braking surface) or a set of Bontrager Aeolus 5.0 ACC.

Any big riders out there like me that have tried either set???

Neither one has a lot of spokes.
16/20 for Dura Ace and 16/16 for Bontrager.
I might look for something else.

My D/A wheelset 16/20 flexes in the back and not even while climbing and I only weigh 160-165 and I'm pretty weak. Thinking of getting the tension checked and re-tensioned since I don't have a meter and am tone deaf. Mine is 7800 2006 model though.

I would stay in the 20/24 spoke range. I went with Reynolds Assaults.

You don't give your weight but, at about 180 lbs my 7850 24CL's perform just fine. Strong, beautifully made and their bearing structure is a model of precision. They are great wheels that reek of quality. I also have a pair of Race XXX Lite tubular wheels which are very close to the Aelous in construction. These too are very good wheels but, the new Shimano's are a little bit stiffer and their braking surface is better being aluminum, of course. But when the road tilts up, the XXX's are the cat's ass.

Of the two I prefer the Shimano's for everyday wheels. If you're in the 200 lb + range though, I would recommend calling Shimano and getting their opinion. The low spoke count might be a concern.
