I'm amazed at how quickly my form is coming along. A couple of my training partners are really starting to have trouble hanging on.

Today I was working the SST, and found myself in the 350-380W zone enough times that I zeroed the PowerTap in disbelief. I wasn't hitting it too hard, but was getting the power up there.

The ride was just under an hour:

Season will be here in April ... and I'm working on getting a little bit faster. It's all about spinning classes this winter!!

Oh hell yes! It's time to move.

That's pretty impressive. I wasn't really going for SST this morning but it kind of had some SST'ish parts to it. I am consistently hitting higher power for longer periods. There is a pretty distinct dropoff at 290 now, which I have been seeing for my last several rides. Movin' on up ;)

What's the % on the Y axis?

% of ride time in that power bin

My highest bin of 7.8% @ 260-270 represents 3:16

Looks like waterrockets likes to hang out at 100 watts higher than you, umd.

He has about 30 pounds on me too...

Booger 12-16-08 01:50 PM

Well, not fast, but faster.

Coyote2 12-16-08 01:59 PM

Why would I be getting fast now? My A races are still >5 months away.

Right now I am getting base-trained.

+1, this is a big part of it.

I re-did the chart as W/kg, with a 0.1 increment. The last bar before the big drop (360-370W) is 4.7-4.8 W/kg. If I weighed what UMD does, that would put me at 304W. He's doing awesome for a racer with only a couple seasons under his belt, and is above where I was during the 2008 season...

With all of this power data, people will soon create virtual bike races and just stay home on weekends.

waterrockets 12-16-08 02:34 PM

That's pretty much what BF is, right? ;)

gsteinb 12-16-08 02:36 PM

I'm going to make a chart

Shipht 12-16-08 02:39 PM

I'm getting extremely fast. Its amazing how fast I can go outside straight to the car, and promptly back in sub-30 celsius temperatures.

Two slices, recover, two more slices, etc. Do that 20x and you have 2 x 20s.

Alternate with 12oz curls.... tis the season for cross training you know.

Very nice plot. It looks rather Gaussian.

Bob Ross 12-16-08 06:00 PM

My wife is getting faster, does that count?

If "foundation" means gaining a bunch of weight, then I'm building a foundation too.

I figure propelling the extra weight will require that much more work, resulting in greater strength, resulting in greater speeds.

MrCrassic 12-16-08 09:38 PM

Yeah, I got faster. My legs are also getting stronger and are becoming more toned.

Neurodoc 12-16-08 11:04 PM

Ya, I'm superfast.

High-speed quad up...
Carving the fall line down.

CastIron 12-17-08 09:28 AM

I added 15 pounds to my ass and commute swaddled in a another 10 pounds of winter gear on 1kg studded tires @45PSi mounted to a 35# MTB. I take the long way home. I'm getting quite slow, but, juts imagine the wattage.
