Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tired from having been up until 2:30am getting our place ready for my daughter's birthday party, and the fact the roads are pretty messy.

It was zero degrees before wind chill and then approximately -20 with the windchill. That is definitely to cold for me. I cant wait till Christmas. I'm going to get money from the family and then order the cheap set of rollers that nashbar has.

Same as OP. Tried taking out the cyclocross bike. Made it 4 blocks, then turned around.

In Montana they plow the freaking roads. I was on the bike all last winter there, yet I can't ride when I come back to PDX. Bah.

My last scheduled ride was Saturday and I didn't do it.

What was my excuse? I was dead tired and a bit dehydrated from coaching all day Friday (basically 10am-5pm on the sea coaching a water sport). Half my brain was saying "come on Mr Lazy, get going" and the other half was saying "don't be silly, give yourself a break".

It is 5ºF here on Mt. Doom this AM. The roads are still a crusty concoction. Hoping they thaw out enough to ride the MTB tomorrow. Wed/Thurs. are supposed to be milder with rain showers, I can handle that.

My wife offered me the car to work this morning. It was a breezy minus 10 and dark. I'll admit I was on the fence, but...

UMMM...another $#%& ice storm.

Wanted to go for my usual 24 mile'r, but with a 1/4 sheet of ice on every concievable surface, it put a damper on things.
