Saddle rails

Super quick question. Is any flat portion of the saddle rail fair game to use, or just the portion between the measure marks?

Any part of the rails which are straight will work.

which end are you wanting to use floppy? I am using the rear most part...and looking for more. Yet to find a shop with adjustable stems....

Well, it's not for me. I'm quite happy with mine right in the center. My friend is riding his dad's old bike which is just a wee bit too big for him so he was considering buying a shorter stem or putting the saddle foward as much as possibly.

and you could try a no-setback seat-post too. Worked for me! And it was reasonably priced too.

Hey guys one thing you need to watch out for with moving the seat up. If you move it to far forward you going to throw your knee-to-pedal alignment off and the knee will be over the front of the pedal rather than inline with the spindle... just a thought incase he starts to have pains from riding the bike thats to big :)

Nothing magic about knee over pedal - I dont think recumbent riders have knee problems. A forward saddle position has the effect of raising the bars slightly.

You think so? I was always under and given the impression that i could cause tendon/muscle problems?

I don't think its an injury issue.. ;)

I don't use KOPS, but my knee position is about a centimeter back when the pedal is at 3 o'clock. I used to have it dead on, now I have noticed a slight increase in power in my pedal strokes. :)

The only problem with using a too big or too little frame is you tend to adjust yourself to the bike. The bike is suppose to adjust to the rider, not the other way around. If you get the right sized frame, you can adjust the saddle poistion, tilt as well as stem length until it feels really good. :)
