Relief for numbness down under?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Relief for numbness down under?

I've seen plenty of threads on groin numbness, and how to prevent it (saddle tilt, height, shape, etc), but not many tips on how to relieve the symptoms when you have them.

I normally ride a hybrid, but when I was visiting my parents over the holidays, I rented a road bike on Wednesday to try it out, and went on a 2+ hour ride. Afterwards, I started developing some pretty bad numbness on the tip of my little guy. It's pretty darn uncomfortable. I've read a lot of articles that say most cases go away in a few days, but it can take up to a week, or even a month in really bad cases. But is there anything I can do to help, or do I just have to wait? For now, I'm just taking Advil and using cold packs for a few minutes at a time.

Thanks!

If the pain is so bad that you need drugs, see a doctor. Something is very wrong.

The Big Joey was giving me problems, too. Got off the bike, then immediate relief. This went on for two weeks. Tried to adjust the seat tilt; I even changed the seat to one with less padding. Finally, I replaced the seat with a Brooks Team Pro, and now I can ride forever with no problems at all. The best thing I ever did. Now, the Big Joey is his old self.

Try and gentley massage underneath the jewel bag. You need to get the blood flow back ASAP.

The best relief prescription of any kind that I have ever seen posted anywhere but specifically for saddle numbness was posted a couple of years ago in a similar thread here on BF where some teenager averred that after coming home with a numbcrotch a couple of times his stepmother rubbed the numb area for him with oil so as to stimulate blood flow.

I tried that, but he insisted I call him "Big Joey."

I think what you mean to call this treatment is the Freudian Slip.

My experience with this issue is that after a period of frequent riding (weeks, months), the numbness and pain goes away. Big Mike and the fellas have been happy and trouble free too. During the time of dealing with it, I'd have to shift in the seat, stand up, change position. It was never bad enough to get me to stop riding.

then your lucky...I would say the WORST advice is to keep riding while going numb...your just asking to do damage.

try some of the cut out saddles...specialized Toupe, selle italia SLC, https://www.sellesmp.com/en/default.htm

I have the same problem I'm 20 and this is really effecting my riding. I'm going to the LBS to do the "butt o meter" and try a specilaized Toupe...

it only goes numb on 2+ hour rides.
