Ladies - Tell me which saddle you use
Alright ladies of the Road Forum, I know you are out there. I need to replace the saddle on my bike and it was suggested that I go with a WSD. I am compelled to do some research before I go in to order one. Tell me which saddle you are currently riding on and any specifics about why you like it. Thanks for your help!
Gents, I know there are plenty of you out there that are like sharks circling when a women's topic pops up. I welcome your input if it is constructive. No, I'm not going to the women's forum. I post to the Road Forum.

I ride the stock saddle on my bike, which is a man's road bike. Its a Fizik Aliante Sport or something. Its really comfortable for me though. I looked at women's saddles at one point but decided to not mess with whats working. Plus after talking to a few people in shops we figured out that unlike many women my sitz bones are probably not spaced wider. I am pretty tiny. If you want a good saddle look at the Fiziks though they are nice. If I was going to change mine out I'd go with one of theirs.

My wife the Fizik Arione and started getting numbness issues, before that she was on the Selle Italia ladies specific saddle (not sure of the name). The Selle Italia was too wide, hence the switch to the Fizik. She then moved on to the Specialized saddles, first the Jett and now the Ruby. The Jett fit good, but she had problems with the rails squeaking at the base of the saddle. The Ruby has turned out to be the one and she is happy...
Just like the guys you need to try as many saddles out as possible to find the one that fits you best.

My wife uses the carbon rail version of the Fizik Vitesse. (essentially an Aliante designed for women.) Works well for her, and its reasonably light.
A lot of women seem to like the Vitesse.
A number of women racers seem to like the Sella San Marco Aspide Glamour. Although that came on our tandem and my wife hated it.
The Team Estrogen forum has a ton of posts on various saddles by women. For this issue, I'd go there.
But bottom line, saddles are really a personal preference, so anything anyone tells you is at best a possiblity to check out.

My wife loves her Terry Liberator. You couldn't pay her to switch.

The suggestion for WSD came from the store owner at the LBS who did my fitting.

I know it is personal preference, but I need start somewhere. I appreciate the input. The LBS suggested that I start with Specialized because they are easier to return. Thought I'd put the open question out there to see if anyone liked them or if I should start somewhere else.

I have had several different models of Specialized saddles & liked them all. My favourite for road biking was the Specialized Jett.
FWIW - I have a Terry saddle on my new roadbike (came with it) and I HATE it.
Good luck finding one that works for you.

My wife rides a 143 toupe gel. She went through a few others in her search for something that didn't irritate the sensitive bits. Terry (Butterfly?), SLR and a few others. Finally got the Toupe and got it dialed. Now the number one rule is "No one shall not touch the sacred saddle angle/fore aft adjustment"
Just yesterday she was commenting that it was the best money she'd spent on bike stuff.

I find it isn't my butt that's the problem. It's the girly bits that get unhappy. Hence the love of a WSD saddle with a nice cutout.

+1 Cheri loves her pink Terry Butterfly saddles. Hers are the pink Ti-railed versions...they don't seem to be available in pink anymore, but definitely check out the latest Ti versions (The chromoly-railed versions are like an entirely different saddle and pretty much cheap junk).

I like my Selle Italia SLK Lady Gel Flow.
I have the men's version of that saddle on another bike and like it reasonably well, but the women's version is better for me. I absolutely hated the Sella San Marco Aspide Glamour.

It is a good idea to measure the sit-bone width before looking at saddles, to give one an idea of what may or may not fit. If the sit-bones are not supported, then the body weight is resting on soft girlie bits and that can be painful or numbing. Beyond that, it's about finding the right shape and padding. For me, that's minimal padding, a flat shape, no cutout and width at least 145. So I tried the Aspide Glamor and found it to be a good choice. While I am always looking for better (would like to try a carbon weave seat but they are all 130ish wide), I am not unhappy with the Aspide. I also tried the Jett but it was a torture device so I canned it. The Terry Butterfly felt ok for about 2 months till the padding softened a bit (too much padding) and there was no support.
