Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cervelo Test Team News

Yawn....I don’t know why I’m posting this, except to instigate Pclown, as I could care less about anything Cervelo....

Vittoria at the Cervélo TestTeam launch!

Next week in Portugal, the men and women of Cervélo TestTeam will start their first training camp together at the Robinson Club Quinta da Ria in the Algarve. The club, located along the beautiful east coast of the Algarve, offers the ideal conditions for optimal training for the teams to prepare for the upcoming cycling season.
Carlos Sastre, winner of the 2008 Tour de France is already sporting his new Cervelo TestTeam jersey, which was presented the 1st of january.
As well as the training camp, the unique team of 25 men and 12 women will be presented to the public for the first time. On Saturday, January 17 the media will have the opportunity to cover the training and interview the riders.
On Sunday, the event will continue with the official Cervélo TestTeam Launch at 11.00h with all the athletes including last year’s Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre (ESP), the top sprinter Thor Hushovd (NOR) and the Olympic Time Trial Champion Kristin Armstrong (USA).

Many good teams are already racing, most all have had one or more camps already, and these guys are just starting?

Impressive.

It's not an actual team. It's just a test team RW. Just like my S2 isn't an actual bike, it's just a vaporware bike.

The quote is taken from a few weeks ago. They are halfway through their camp, and the team presentation took place Sunday, Jan. 18.

So they'll be taking SAT's, ACT's, something like that?

Hey, maybe they are testing your bike!!! That might be the holdup.

But Sastre only got his "official" jersey on January 1. It says that in the article. So it can't be "weeks old" but "days old"...

BTW...team presentations for the top teams took place a while ago.

Not that any of this matters...

Who needs to follow a schedule when you have the Norwegian God of Thunder on your side?

Not everyone's career can reach the heady heights of the Tour Down Under or Tour of Qatar. Some may only be able to race in Europe.

I feel really bad for those guys; they might have to see this ugly pig.

Cervélo TestTeam expects invites to all the big tours this season. Pcad, you're also expecting your S2 sometime this year? Which one do you think actually has a chance of becoming reality?

Like defending Tour de France champion Carlos Sastre? Those lofty heights?

Congrats on the Steelers. They should win the Super Bowl, but of course, Arizona shouldn't even be there, just like the Giants last year. Fascinating match-up. I'll watch. The only thing that will save the TV ratings will be the presence of the Steelers.

You don't think it'd be counter-productive for the Grand Tours to not grant a wild card to a team that contains:

- last year's TdF winner (Sastre)
- a green jersey winner and multiple stage winner (Hushovd)
- a stage winner from last year (Gerrans)
