New Tire/Tubes -- Not holding air -- Help!!!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New Tire/Tubes -- Not holding air -- Help!!!

I just received some new Continental GP4000s tires and also got new tubes (clinchers). Mounted one of the tires with a new tube and had a leak. Inspected the tube, and there was a puncture. Threw ANOTHER new tube in, inflated, ANOTHER leak. What is most likely going on and what am I doing wrong?

You probably accidentally pinching the tube when you install it. Are you using tire levers to put them back on? You shouldn't if at all possible.

Puncture is on the inside diameter of the tube?

If so, it sounds like new rim tape is in order.

Thanks to all for the advice. I've realized I got a little lever happy when installing the tires. Last night, I sat down on the couch and took my time installing a new tube and tire without levers while watching a basketball game (WFU - VT). Got the tire mounted fine, unfortunately Wake lost.

if they would have won you would have had another flat.
Hope you're happy...as long as you don't get a flat, they're gonna lose.

+1. Some flats with new tubes are caused by defective tubes, but the vast majority are caused by improper installation technique.
