Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bontrager Race Lite Hardcases

Ok, so I just upgraded my tires on my Fuji Crosstown 2.0 Hybrid, and bought Bontrager Race Lite Hardcases 700 X 28c. I did a lot of research, and asked a lot of questions at my LBS's. It was a toss-up between these and the Ultra Gatorskins. Did I make the right choice??? Bike will be used for commuting, and Club Rides 2-3 times a week.

I am on my second set of these tires, I love them. I got a little over 6000 miles on the first set. I'm approaching 4000 on this set. I rotate them every 1000 miles. I can only recall one puncture flat (roofing staple) and maybe one pinch flat (railroad crossing).

Thanks for the reply! Cant wait to take it out tomorrow, and "feel" the difference!

Yes, you made a good choice. Long lasting, never allowed a puncture flat and handle well.

They aren't the best in the rain would be my complaint. I have 32c but will likely use the 28's next time around on the Trek.

Don't ever rotate your tires.

When the rear is worn, put the front tire on the rear wheel, and get a new front.

I know it is not the prefered method, but it works for me. 10k in two years and only two sets of tires seems to me to be a good result.

i think they had a bad run of these. I delaminated two in 1000 miles on a 2008 trek I got in Sept 2007. I have heard others had issues. Then I heard they are once again good tires.

I've used these for winter training. Good life out of the tires but incredibly poor grip especially with a big lean angle.

I'm using these in 700x23 (the 120 TPI version) on my "beater" bike and they have been great for puncture resistance.
