Look Keo and Delta Cleat Confusion

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Look Keo and Delta Cleat Confusion

Good evening everyone,

Im confused with what goes with what....

Does a "Delta" cleat fit the same pedal as a "Keo" and vise versa?

What Look pedals require Delta cleats and what pedals require Keo cleats ?

Is a Keo cleat better than a Delta or a Delta cleat better than a Keo? If so why?

To save confusion:

Look Delta is what they used to make.
Look Keo is what they make now.

Delta cleats will not work on a Keo pedal, or vice-versa. If you have Delta pedals, you need Delta cleats.

From what I understand, the Delta pedals have stopped production... but you will still be able to buy Delta cleats to go with your existing Delta pedals... just won't be any new Delta pedals.

The only thing in common is the bolt pattern.

As mentioned the delta is "dead" to look. The major change is the thickness/size of the cleat itself.

The stack height is lower on Keo, and the overall weight is able to be lower. And yeah, Look doesn't make Delta pedals anymore, but they're still making cleats for them.

The cleats are not interchangeable between Keo and Delta. If you're looking at a pedal and it looks kinda bulky and fat, it's probably a Delta. If it looks skinny and kinda small, it's probably a KeO.

Interesting tidbit, SPD-SL cleats fit in Delta pedals but Delta cleats don't fit in SPD-SL pedals. Go figure.

Initially all delta cleats were of the black - fixed design. ARC was Look's first forray into cleats with float in response to Time's popular entry into the market with a floating pedal system. Arc cleats will work with any delta system.

They are thinner so SL's do *fit* in there but they do not cooperate very well. ie you shouldn't try to make them work together.
