CRC- Chain Reaction Cycles Experience

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CRC- Chain Reaction Cycles Experience

I'm thinking of buying a wheelset from Chain Reaction Cycles in the U.K. and was wondering if anyone has had any experience (good or bad) with this company. How was delivery? I'm Canadian and the exchange from the U.K. is much better than the U.S. now which is why I'm looking at CRC. Plus the prices are great! Thanks for you input.

Search this site for similar threads. They are pretty common. I use CRC more than any other site for new stuff. Great deals, great service. If you are ordering multiple items from them, make sure all items are currently in stock or else they will hold ALL items until the backordered item(s) is(are) filled. Otherwise, CRC rocks my world.

I am also in Canada and have had good luck with CRC. Stuff takes about a week to get here and I have not been dinged with duty/GST/PST so far. The stuff I get from PBK on the other hand always seems to get stopped by customs and I have to pay the above. Perhaps it is the bright blue bags that PBK uses.

I am guessing that given the size of a wheel set package you will have to pay the taxes/duty. And you are correct, the good deals have shifted to the UK.

another canuck here. had a great experience just before christmas. have another batch of stuff just clearing customs now, i should get it by friday. that means their third party delivery agent has a good tracking system. i am happy to pay gst and pst, and the handling fee is $5. still a super deal.

Used them twice and PBK with no problems at all with duty or GST.
Delivery is a week or so.

Great Service from CRC. I recently ordered from them for myself and some friends....goods arrived in about a week plus in a large SRAM box. If you hit a certain amount, shipping is free!!

I really like ordering from their site, great prices and no issues with delivery. I recently ordered Sidi winter boots (Hydro GTX) and Keo pedals without incident.

That's a great price, but you might also consider the Shimano 7850 c24 cl, if you can wait for them to become available, as they are almost 1/2 a kg lighter and hopefully comparable in quality.

Thanks, I've already looked into those. I'm 210lbs and ride some really rough road. If I have a failure I'd rather it be a matter of truing rather than a fatal failure.
