Serious purchasing this week. First, a Kona Paddy Wagon fixie. This inherited my Brooks Swift (previously on my tourer, where it had given many thousand miles service despite not really being a touring saddle). And of course that meant I had to buy a B17 for the tourer. Oh, and while I was in the shop I picked up a couple of Schwalbe Luganos for the road bike. At this rate I'll never be able to afford to retire.

Easton EA90 SLX.

Specialized S-Works SL Ergo Carbon Handlebars, 40cm.

Total, dropped my bike's total weight w/everything minus my Garmin and water bottles down to 17.76 pounds. It definitely feels lighter, now that it has lost about a pound (apparently my rear wheel weighs as much as my older Ksyrium Equipe front wheel). Am going to try it all out tomorrow on the Sierra Century.

Just ordered a load of new gear.
  • Bearing grease
  • Chain lube
  • Shimano SPD-SL cleats (red)
  • Black Tacx water bottle
  • Black carbon bar tape
  • Transparent decals to keep my cables/chain from rubbing my paint
  • Extra 2 pairs of brake pads
  • Extra tube (just in case)
  • Chain/cassette 'toothbrush'

2009 Tarmac Expert 54 Saxo Bank Color Scheme. Weighs exactly 18 lbs. Quite an upgrade from an 2008 Allez sport Compact Double. Much lighter and feels more solid on turns. I feel like I am running uphill instead of pedaling a bike up hill. This is my first Carbon bike and first with all Ultegra. The shifting is a dream compared to the 105s on the Allez. I will still use the Allez for normal workouts and keep the Tarmac for special events.

acaurora 06-07-10 11:59 AM

Nice! I have a '10 Tarmac Expert, and also came from an Allez. Definitely moves much faster doesn't it? :)

Went on a bit of a shopping spree with the money I saved from not driving after getting in a wreck. FINALLY going clipless! Bought shoes at LBS and spent more than I originally intended but made up for it with cheap pedals lol. Just waiting on the mailman.

with the money i have saved from quitting smoking cigarettes purchased this weekend. my other bike has 6700 components. I was thinking of swapping components but I will likely wait until and wear this out and just purchase an entire group. I wanted to get a CAAD9 while theyre still made in the USA. Wheels I had laying around were the Mavic Open Pros w/ ultegra hubs. Now when its time to upgrade groupsets im leaning towards Ultegra 6700 (ive been pretty happy w/ it) or i might give sram force or rival a shot. when I was testing bikes at the shop I think it will take me a while to get used to the double tap style shifting.

I have a couple bibs/shorts from LG as well. Be warned though, if the one you ordered is the exact same as the image, the bibs run smaller than the current year version. I have an '09 and a '10 version, and the '09 runs a little smaller/less stretchy.

HOLY COW!!!!! You've been a good boy!!

swampdonkey90 06-13-10 08:04 PM

Bought my first road bike today : Cannondale Caad9. Spent another $500 in accessories ( shoes, upgraded to Keo pedals, attire, gloves, helmut etc, etc, etc).

Been MB for several years and finally made the conversion. Went 21 miles on my first ride today and felt great. Hope to get into much longer rides before the summer is over. Planning on riding the Erie Towpath tomorrow so hopefully another 20 miles ride.
