Bought an SRAM Force group for my bike build yesterday.

Flatballer 10-19-10 11:10 AM

I can tell by your use of "an" that you're pronouncing SRAM wrong. It's like scram, but without the c. Just say it like it's a word, it's not an acronym or anything.

Bobsled 10-19-10 11:44 AM

It was a typo and yes I know. S RAM

Flatballer 10-19-10 11:48 AM

ah, ok. Lots of people get that one wrong.

Bobsled 10-19-10 12:05 PM

Yes they do. Turns out it is an acronym for the founder's first names Scott, Ray, and Sam. There is an article in the Oct issue of Road Bike Action Mag.

I got a couple handlebar flashlight mounts for early rainy morning pedaling.

derek.fulmer 10-20-10 09:25 PM

Speedplay Zero pedals, stainless steel in Red. I was gonna get the liquigas team edition because i dig the neon green, but i thought i'd keep the color scheme of the bike of red and black.

Are you selling your Red crankset? I might interested if you are.

I haven't decided yet. I may keep them as a spare or for my next build up.

Another set of comfy, comfy 3T Ergonova bars for my '86 Peloton. I got a set for my Felt workhorse, and they ruined me for round Al bars.

(Also because I learned that 42cm bars are not too narrow for my colossal @$$: )

I saw those yesterday. I was considering the Ergosum because the ergonova was 77mm reach vs. ergosum's 89mm reach. I spend most of my time on the hoods so don't know how much I would use the flat part of the ergonova? Did you buy yours local or online (PBK seems to have the best price)?

Online--but I got them mixed up with another bar and thought PBK was charging more. Got them from Excelsports. Meh--I'll have them tomorrow at least.
My previous bars were 44cm Ritchey, which are ape-hangers by comparison. After riding the Tour de Poway with these new bars, my Peloton's 44cm Ritchey bars make me feel like a human parachute.
I already have 3 different stem lengths, and a longer stem makes up for the new bar's shorter reach.
The tiny reach & drop look a little silly on my 63cm bike, but they are so comfortable! I spent a good amount of time in the drops on a recent century and never felt strained at all. It's really cool to feel relaxed in the drops without squishing The Junk, and I simply bend my elbows a little more when on the other side of 40mph.
